Sometimes great names can come from the least expected places.
Selector Event was one of them. One of the childhood videos I managed to uncover was a recording I made of the pay-per-view preview channel, of all things. It featured the How To Order Rap – no, I’m not kidding – which told you how to order with your remote. One of the steps was to press the buttons “SELECT or EVENT”.
When trying to come up with a name for my online ventures, I hit on Select Or Event. I tried many variations of the name, then one day discovered that there is such a thing as a selector event in code. Thus, the name was born.
The idea I wanted to hit with the logo was the “beauty of code”, so to speak. I wanted to use brackets and curly braces, but not in a code-like context. Garamond Premier Pro showed me the way.
